Tore Vagn Lid has been nominated for the national Ibsen Award for "The Trigger System"

Artistic director of Transiteatret-Bergen has been nominated for the national Ibsen Award for his (reading) drama "Triggersystemet".

The national Ibsen Prize is Norway's only playwright's prize, and has been awarded by the municipality of Skien since 1986. The prize goes annually to a dramatic text that has had its world premiere or Norwegian premiere at a professional Norwegian theater - or in another professional and artistic context - during the previous calendar year. The jury writes, among other things:

"The Trigger System dares to think big about the most fundamental thing: man's place in nature - and nature's place in man. We are invited aboard an ark-like boat, where Captain Noah has collected insects in a vivarium. They talk. They observe us. They ask. In this shifted perspective, Tore Vagn Lid opens up a universe that is sharp, imaginative and disturbingly precise.(...) The trigger system is both funny and serious, imaginative and philosophical. It opens up space for reflection, without giving easy answers. It is a brave and necessary work. ( read the full justification here )

The Trigger System is available both as a reading frame, published by Cappelen Damm 2025 and as a stage work directed by Tore Vagn Lid with world premieres for The Trigger System during the Northern Norway Festival on June 21, 2025. The Trigger System is produced by Transiteatret-Bergen in collaboration with the National Theatre, Black Box Teater and the Northern Norway Festival.

"The Trigger System - PART 1 "The Vivariet" premiered at Black Box Theatre in the fall of 2024, and received the Hedda Award for Best Performance of the Year and Tore Vagn Lid also received the Hedda Award for Best Stage Text for the same drama.

The prize is NOK 150,000.- and an Ibsen statuette by sculptor Nina Sundbye.

The award ceremony of the national Ibsen Prize will take place in the Ibsen House, Skien, on March 20, 2026.
